3 Cleaning Tips to Start Today

When my kids were younger, I didn’t have a lot of time to clean the house. I usually cleaned when we were done with home school for the day, and the kids were off playing or watching something. Today, with a job outside the home, I still don’t have much time, but I have learned a few things along the way to make it easier.

1. Listen to music

This one is probably obvious, but I sometimes forget to use my iPod or phone to listen to music while I clean. There have been studies done in regards to music and how it can improve productivity when you are doing a job that is repetitive. Even without knowing that, I have learned from experience listening to music can make a job, which doesn’t take much thought, more enjoyable. Listening to music (or even a podcast if you prefer) while washing dishes, vacuuming, or dusting can make those chores go by quicker.

2. Get rid of clutter

Being motivated to clean is hard enough when you have to fight through the clutter. Tackling the clutter should be your first step before you clean. Designate bags or boxes to donate, toss, or relocate. Fighting clutter also applies to areas you can’t see, such as in your cupboards and drawers. Keeping areas like cupboards, drawers, and surfaces organized saves you so much time. Let’s face it, clutter can take over any area of your house. Check out my past posts on uncluttering your home.

3. Swap out your cleaners for one

I prefer to keep things simple, but there was a time when if you looked under my sink in the kitchen or bathroom, simple and uncluttered is the last thing you would see. I had cleaning products for windows, toilets, bathtubs, floors, and counters. I then had some health issues and I started reading labels. I was surprised at all the negative effects the chemicals and the synthetic fragrances in those cleaners can have. It made sense why I was getting headaches when I used them. Go to EWG’s (Environmental Working Group) website to check out what is in your products. Just a quick search of all-purpose cleaners shows how they can be a source of concern for your respiratory and reproductive systems, to name a few.

I spent a lot of time in the cleaning aisle of the grocery store attempting to find a healthier alternative with not much success. I was tired of searching for cleaning products that I felt comfortable using in my home.

When I became a customer of Young Living, I discovered a cleaner that is effective, and safe for the whole family, including your furry friends. You can even feel comfortable having your kids help you clean, which is a bonus! Buying this cleaner also cut down on all the clutter under my sink too. Instead of needing an individual product for every place I needed to clean in my home, I was able to cut it down to one. It is also super affordable. The cost is $23.50, and you can make about 28 16 ounce spray bottles with it, which is less than $1.00 per bottle! I am now a Brand Partner of Young Living and I love to share about the products like this one that has changed the way I live for the better!

This is the best all purpose cleaner I have found:
